Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs, and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.

Enabling our children to communicate, even without words is very important to us. Each week we teach them simple hand gestures so they can always tell us what they want us to know.

🔴 This series of videos shows you some of the signs we use in school.

Clean, Dirty and to Wash Hands

This video by Isabella shows the Makaton signs for the questioning words we use to find out about the children's play and learning. Who, what, when, where, why and how.

In this video Rhiannon from Sensory Science shows many of the signs we have been learning. Why don't you practice with her?
