Nursery News Letter April 2022

Hello to all our lovely families Thank you to all those parents who attended parents evening. We had such positive feedback from everyone. During the last two weeks, the children have enjoyed learning all about the chicks. We watched seven chicks hatch out and observed them grow into bigger chicks! Time flies by at nursery and the Easter holidays will soon be here! Make a note of all the important dates after the Easter holidays! We all hope you have a lovely break over the Easter holidays. Mrs Sally Appadu

Early Help and Family Support

If you need help with accessing food banks, benefits, housing, finances, counselling, parenting courses, english classes or adult education please ask to see Mrs Sally     Appadu. She can make an early help referral. There are many agencies that can help families at the moment in Birmingham.

You can also access Family Support by phoning Doddington Children’s Centre on

0121 477 6440. You can leave a message with the receptionist and a duty family support worker will phone back. They will phone you back on the same day between 12noon and 4.00pm. This support is available Monday to Friday and during the Easter holidays.

Food Bank

The nearest food bank to Lillian de Lissa is located at Edgbaston Community Centre. It is open Monday to Friday 10:00am-3:00pm. It is completely free, just bring a carrier bag. The best day to go is on a Wednesday as it is delivery day. It is open during the Easter holidays (not on weekends or bank holidays)

Covid 19 Guidelines April 2022

The Department for Education has issued new guidance as of 31st March 2022 which we need to pass onto you.

The guidance is around what we should all do should we have the symptoms of covid.

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice will be 3 days.

Dinner Money and School Fund

Please pay dinner money to David in the office.

Dinner money is £2.20 a day. Please also remember to pay school fund as this buys the lovely extras for our children. £1 per week for part time children £2 per week for full time children.

This needs to be paid in advance every week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Messy Play

We understand that children can sometimes come home messy after a day at nursery, but there are so many new and different skills they have been developing. We have sent out a seperate letter about this. Ask your key worker if you haven't received it. Please remember to bring your child in appropriate clothing for nursery.

Attendance

We understand that children are unwell sometimes but it is also important for us to      promote good attendance at nursery.

It is important that the children arrive before 9.15am. This is to ensure that all children have plenty of learning opportunities.

Well done to those children whose attendance has been above 80% this term. They have been awarded an excellent attendance certificate.

Book Bags

You will be provided with a school book bag so your child can change their library book every week. Please remember to bring your child’s book bag every Tuesday and Thursday so they can borrow a book every week.

There are also red book bags available to buy at the school office. They cost £4.00. Please see Isma at the office if you would like to buy one.

Allergies

Please do not send your child into school with drinks, sweets or other food. We have several children who are severely allergic to fish, pulses and eggs etc. Please note we are also a nut free school. Thank you.
